Gaynor and Martin Shepherd met at work 25 years ago, when they were both working for a German multinational. By 1988 they were happily married and their fairytale was about to begin. They settled in a large four-bedroom detached home in a village in South Devon, but when the company they both worked for closed their Devon site, the pair grabbed their chance for a complete lifestyle change.
And with over 35 years of senior management under his belt, hard-working Martin was more than ready for a challenge. He says: “We could have looked for alternative jobs, but the prospect of having to move within the UK to follow potential work didn’t seem like the ideal plan.”

“We wanted a complete lifestyle change, and Spain seemed like the perfect place to start new careers in the holiday business.”
With a little patience the determined couple set about finding a dream location for their new start in the sun. Gaynor says: “We spent the next two years visiting various parts of Andalucía, trying to find the ideal place where we could shape our vision into something special.”
After two extended visits they discovered Lake Iznajar, the largest lake in Andalucía. The village of Iznajar nestles on the Genil River, about 110 km from Córdoba and close to the borders of Málaga and Granada.
