Dear Property Clinic I'm thinking of taking early retirement this year and we were considering buying a property in Spain. We're both real sun-worshippers so after some lovely hot holidays all-year-round in the Canaries we thought the islands might be the ideal place to buy. We're not sure whether we'd like to keep it as a second home, or move there permanently, so we don't really have a set price range in mind. All we would ask is that the place be fairly new or recently renovated.

"Beachfront property will always retain its value as there is constant demand for this coveted location whereas supply will always be finite. Says Andrew Benitz, director of Titan Properties. “In my area of the Costa de la Luz huge swathes of land are backed by protected sand dunes and pine forests and therefore prohibited to build on, further reducing supply and consequently property located closer to the beach will always sell at a premium.”

Dear Property Clinic,
I’m tired of spending a fortune on hotel rooms, and would like to find a place of my own where I can spend quiet holidays relaxing. I’ve decided on Mallorca, and would love a low-maintenance apartment near the sea: somewhere that I can just walk into, drop my suitcases and hit the swimming pool. I’m not worried about nightlife or being close to a town, as I’d much rather spend a peaceful evening sitting on my balcony with a good book and a glass of rioja. Can you help me find somewhere that won’t need a lot of work?
